I agree that if you have something that won't just go away on its own, getting treatment started ASAP is usually the shortest road to recovery. I usually have a problem recognizing that something is not just going to go away on its own, so when it doesn't I end up being sick for quite awhile. Fortunately, most things I seen to catch do seem to go away on their own (with a little help from my immune system).
Yes, that is a particular risk with untreated strep, which is why I'm being particularly careful this time. As a diabetic, I'm already at great enough risk for heart disease; scarlet fever I do not need.
