Yes, [livejournal.com profile] esrblog and I finally went to see Wall-E tonight, since all of the friends we would normally have gone to see it with have seen it without us.

The movie deserves all the praise it has received. It has tons of heart, which is impressive for an animated film whose protagonist characters are robots. Like Pixar's last few movies, it starts with a cartoon feature that is an absolute gem. More impressively, it has a moral--actually, it has all kind of good, solid morals, and a happy ending.

* Pixar can breathe anthropomorphic life into just about any inanimate object.

* Love is a stronger force than the fear of change.

* In the longest run of all, the biggest sin is giving up.

* Even robots go for sexy females with guns. (It's a really good thing that Wanted was not the movie that inspires Wall-E.)

So go and see Wall-E. It's a keeper that could well turn out to be a classic. Even if you don't, get the hell up from your computer and do something real for a while. (You'll understand why I'm saying that once you've seen the movie.)
