Do you know the way to Santa Fe?

Because that's where the next deposition I have to cover is being held. Santa Fe, New Mexico, on Thursday morning.

To make matters worse, I have to a) be in New York City at court conferences for the next two afternoons; b) leave for Santa Fe almost directly after one of those conferences, c) get to Santa Fe by car from Albuquerque, because I will miss the last flight to Santa Fe because of the court conference in NYC, and d) stay at least until Friday, because there are so few flights out of Santa Fe and Albuquerque at the end of the business day that I will certainly miss the last one if, as I have every reason to expect, the deposition lasts all day Thursday.

And if, as I have some reason to expect, the deposition continues into Friday, I won't get back until 5:20 a.m. on Saturday morning.

So if you don't hear from me for a few days, it's because I'm on the road with too little energy to post (though I expect to bring my laptop with me). Either that, or it will be because I took that famous wrong turn at Albuquerque.

YOU WILL LOVE IT!!! New Mexico is gorgeous, and I'd even recommend that you stick around until Sunday morning, so you can see some of it. Years ago, a friend and I were driving around the pine forests (I'm not kidding) in the mountains. It was phenomenal.

Also, an old housemate of mine, Carol J. (formerly J, now Carol T.), lives in New Mexico with her husband. E-mail me, and I'll try to put the two of you in touch.

You will see the most beautiful mountains, be amazed by how lush the desert is, be surrounded by fantastic art, and be fed marvelous food.

One bit about the food: Everywhere you eat, the waitperson will ask you, "red or green?" This refers to chile pepper sauce to go with whatever you're eating. Green is the hotter one, if that matters to you.

Thanks. Though my trip is for business, and I expect to have little time or energy for sightseeing. Additionally, the time of the deposition has changed (twice) since the post of mine you responded to, and I will no longer have a good excuse to stay over a weekend. :-(
