It now turns out that I'm not going to be going to Santa Fe. My partner is going instead.

I can't say that I'm not disappointed, but on the other hand, now I don't have to travel across the country on the day before Thanksgiving.

Well, there's been another schedule change.

The good news is that I won't have to travel on a Sunday, since the deposition is no longer set for October 31. However, the bad news is that the new date is November 22. Which means that I will be making my return trip on November 23. Yes, that's right, the day before Thanksgiving--the worst day to travel in North America. Murphy must be loving this. :-)

Because they've rescheduled the deposition that I need to go to Santa Fe to cover, my trip to Santa Fe is on hold, and I don't have to fly there tomorrow. I'm grateful for the reprieve, because I'm so tired.

The new date: October 31. Yes, I'm going to be in Santa Fe for Halloween. That means I'll be flying out on Sunday the 30th, missing our municipal Halloween parade in the process. Darn.

Tomorrow: Another trip to New York City! Yes, that's the third in three days. :-)

Because that's where the next deposition I have to cover is being held. Santa Fe, New Mexico, on Thursday morning.

To make matters worse, I have to a) be in New York City at court conferences for the next two afternoons; b) leave for Santa Fe almost directly after one of those conferences, c) get to Santa Fe by car from Albuquerque, because I will miss the last flight to Santa Fe because of the court conference in NYC, and d) stay at least until Friday, because there are so few flights out of Santa Fe and Albuquerque at the end of the business day that I will certainly miss the last one if, as I have every reason to expect, the deposition lasts all day Thursday.

And if, as I have some reason to expect, the deposition continues into Friday, I won't get back until 5:20 a.m. on Saturday morning.

So if you don't hear from me for a few days, it's because I'm on the road with too little energy to post (though I expect to bring my laptop with me). Either that, or it will be because I took that famous wrong turn at Albuquerque.
