It's Saturday afternoon, and we're still at Worldcon. :-)

Because the keys on Eric's laptop seem to be permanently borked, I don't want to post a long entry from my Blackberry, and the Internet area at the con only permits access in 20-minute blocks, I don't want to write a long entry about the con right now.

The convention has been good to us so far, though. The weather has been beautiful--warm and sunny every day (though rather chilly at night), the dealer's room varied and well-stocked (Eric picked up a handful of rare ACE doubles for about $30), and we've had dinner with several authors who are also our friends. There have also been more room parties than there were at the last two or three Worldcons. So what if the panels are kind of dull? I expected that--LACon III, the last Worldcon in Anaheim, was much the same way.

The con comm is good at the details, though. They apparently talked the main con hotel, the Hilton Anaheim (where we're staying) into extending breakfast each day until 2 PM. So life is good.

The one time I was in CA for a convention (professional convention actually) the programming was really boring. So I spent most of the weekend reading articles outside next to the pool. It was February and I had come from Michigan, so I was actually happier than I think I would have been even with good talks and posters.

If I were at a professional conference, I would probably have done exactly what you did. However, I expect more from an SF convention, particularly a Worldcon. Maybe that's because they come up with such neat titles for panels. Unfortunately, few panels live up to their titles.
