Cathy, I'm sorry to hear that it didn't work out, but it sounds like a good solution has been found. I understand your need for peace and the desire to keep your old girl happy. whew!
Thanks so much for the sympathy. Right now I feel like I have stabbed three friends in the back: my friend (who thought she'd already found a good home for this cat), Princess herself (for giving her away after she and I had begun to bond) and Sugar (for agreeing to take Princess in the first place and putting her through all of this grief).
On the other hand, better end it now, before I come to hate Princess for doing what comes naturally (to her!) in doing her best to monopolize my attention.
