To make a long story short, after I lost half of my taskbar icons to a typo last night (and couldn't figure out how to get them back!) I decided to have ![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-syndicated.gif)
esrblog switch my desktop to Gnome (except for KMail).
He had it all ready when I got home tonight. Lo! It looked--amazingly like my KOffice desktop before the 8.10 upgrade.

landley, you were right--most of KDE is no longer worth bothering with. :-(
