And, of course, I still haven't taken my car back to the mechanic to find out why the fan in my car's HVAC system will only operate when set on "high."

If you find out, let me know. My car has the same problem, but I haven't yet finished paying off the brakes & radiator job from last month.

There's a resistor pack that's switched in series with the blower motor when you select fan speeds other than high. That resistor pack is probably blown.

(I posted this when Cathy mentioned the problem last time, so I didn't feel the need to repeat myself...)

By the way, since then the LED clock on my dash has started going black, usually while the engine is still warming up. Is that consistent with your resistor-pack theory?
