Remember we got Eric's keyboard fixed for $180? Well, now his laptop has to go to the shop again; it started to develop a flaky key over dinner tonight, and by the time we got home was refusing to boot. I blame the fact that, on Saturday, Eric tripped over some idiot's foot in the aisle of a busy restaurant and fell, dropping his laptop, hitting his head on one of the booths (no sign of concussion, just a nasty scrape just above his hairline) and getting ginger ale on it to boot. So it goes back to the repair shop tomorrow.
In other news, a piece of weatherstripping on my house came loose yesterday and is now hanging off my house in front of my window. How soon it will get fixed is a question, because it's snowing now, and they're predicting 6-8 inches.
And, of course, I still haven't taken my car back to the mechanic to find out why the fan in my car's HVAC system will only operate when set on "high."
On the bright side, Verizon sent me a $71 reimbursement check. They shut off my home phone line shortly *after* I paid them off in full, and when I called them to reinstate my service they realized that they owed *me* money. Fancy that.

By the way, I forgot to include another recent re-breakage--the ceiling light in Eric's office. The bulb blew, and once again replacement bulbs don't fix the problem.
So I dug up an old floor lamp from the basement, got it fixed, and put it in his office while we wait to haul the electrician back here again. :-(

By the way, since then the LED clock on my dash has started going black, usually while the engine is still warming up. Is that consistent with your resistor-pack theory?
