Wasn't it last weekend that I saw some reference on a blog to the fact that most of the last 15 big blizzards have been on weekends?

I should have said at the time--be careful what you wish for.... It's 5:00 P.M. here, and still snowing intensely. Because we haven't shoveled much today (my muscle pull is still recovering, and ESR is trying not to get one), and haven't been far from the front door, it's hard to judge--but we've gotten over a foot since last night, at least. It might be more. And it hasn't looked as though it might be stopping since around lunchtime when it slowed to a flurry. We thought that might be the end of it. Silly us.

If this goes on till midnight we will have two feet of new snow, and might be heading toward three.

At least we have food, warmth, and each other. And the cat.

We had 16 inches of new snow at 4PM. And it hasn't slowed down any. I can easily believe we're going to get the maximum prediction of 24 inches. On top of the foot or more we still had.

Probably true of us too--I just hope we don't get more. God alone knows how/when we're going to shovel ourselves out of this one--ESR wants me to take it easy because that pulled muscle I got the last time is still recovering, and he can't do it all.

"And the cat." For when you're really hungry.

Sugar is more than just a cat; she's a friend--practically a family member. She was my mother's last pet; Mom's last coherent request, to me, when she was on her deathbed was that I take care of Sugar.

I can't vouch for how long my principles would hold up if I got *really* hungry, but I hope that I would exhaust all other possible sources of food before I even considered killing her for food.

I'll try hard to refrain from any more cat jokes...

That's fine. Not everyone is a cat lover; my father detested cats (Mom acquired Sugar during her second marriage, years after my dad had passed away) and wouldn't have one in the house. So I know where you're coming from--even if I don't agree.
